SSD or HDD: Which one do you need in 2K20?
Well! I have heard a lot from my friend while they were going to purchase a new laptop or building a new custom PC, they used to always get confused between the storage device that which one will be a better option, they always used to prefer the old-school mechanical hard drive instead of a solid-state drive.
A hard disk drive (HDD) is an old-school storage device that uses mechanical platters and a moving read/write head to access data.

A solid-state drive (SSD) is a newer, faster type of device that stores data on instantly-accessible memory chips.

The most common way to differentiate between these two is most probably we all have used the optical disk (CDs/DVDs), did you remember that when we are copying something from the optical disk to our computer’s hard drive then we are not able to use the optical disk drive for another work or copying one another files at a single instant of time, similarly our desktop or laptop s’ hard drive, they have mechanical platter inside which are rotating at a speed of 5400rpm or 7200rpm laptop and desktop respectively. So, the greater will be the rotating speed the maximum will be the reading and writing speed.

But come on guys, it’s 2020 we are living in the world of the digital era where we as a youngster, do not have the patience to wait for the delay in the work of hard disk to read and write the data, opening or closing of a software. We have SSDs which are almost 10 times faster than the old - school mechanical hard drive (or even more in NVMe SSDs). For illustration, let me give an another e.g, we all have used or using pen drive, flash drive, memory card, etc., did you related something that while copying we can open/close the Pendrive copy another file, at the same instant which was not possible in the optical disk drive(CDs/DVDs). Similarly, SSDs are fabricated with these memory chips on a board which has a relatively very large read and write speed (for e.g, around 500MB/s Read and 400+MB/s Write which is significantly larger than the hard drive of 5400 rpm having a speed of around 80MB/s read & write and in 7200rpm desktop hard drive has a max. speed of 150MB/s read and write). So, In this digital era, we all are lacking the most scarce resource which is time, as fast as the thing goes the more time we have to do some other work.

In General speaking, I would suggest all move to SSDs instead of the hard disk (for larger storage), especially you all at-least need to install your windows system and software that you use frequently. So, that they can be accessed in the very least amount of time.
The most noticeable and significant difference you notice while using an SSD and HDD is the Boot-time taken by the PC is around max. of 10 seconds from pressing the power button to welcome screen while in HDD you may have to wait a minimum of 60 seconds from pressing the power button to welcome screen. These are all because of the rotating platter inside the HDD. If you think 256GB SSD is the same-priced at 1TB HDD, Just think again about the time and delay you’re going to notice while using it. So, Never regret any of your skills for just a little push of hardware.
